Care & Maintenance Guide – Polymer Deck & Resurfacing Systems

Your new Armor Coat Surfaces installation is designed to be durable, beautiful, and long-lasting. To keep it looking its best and to protect your investment, please follow these care and maintenance guidelines.

🔹 Everyday Protection

  • Avoid dragging heavy objects (furniture, planters, appliances) across the surface, as this may scuff or tear the finish.

  • Do not extinguish cigarettes on the surface.

  • Clean spills quickly to prevent stains. Remove organic material (leaves, pine needles, dirt) before it decomposes.

  • Avoid incompatible materials such as rubber mats, pressure-treated lumber, or cedar, as they may cause staining.

  • Protect the surface by using plastic foot pads under metal or cedar furniture, and trays under planters.

  • Place a protective mat under BBQs to prevent grease damage.

❄️ Snow & Ice Care

  • Use only a plastic shovel to remove snow and ice.

  • De-icing products such as rock salt or kitty litter may be used, but the surface must be washed thoroughly with soap and water in spring to avoid chemical staining.

🧽 General Cleaning

  • Clean at least four times per year (more often in areas with acid rain, heavy tree debris, or pollution).

  • Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaning products and follow the product instructions.

  • Mix warm water with a mild detergent, scrub using a stiff broom in a circular motion, and rinse with a garden hose.

  • A pressure washer may be used on a low setting (max 1500 PSI), with the nozzle held 12” or more above the surface. Avoid direct spraying at seams, edges, or railing attachments.

  • For tough stains, please contact Armor Coat Surfaces before attempting heavy cleaning.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • All cleaning agents are used at your own risk.

  • Always test in a small, hidden area before cleaning a visible section.

  • Cleaning must be followed by a thorough rinse with clean water.

  • Clean when the surface is cool to the touch and avoid direct sunlight or peak daytime heat.

  • Do not use: powdered abrasives, steel wool, industrial cleaners, dry cleaning fluids, lacquer solvents, undiluted bleach, acetone, turpentine, lacquer thinner, ketone, acid, or multipurpose paint/stain removers. These will damage the protective coating.

  • Waxes may contain dyes or solvents that can permanently stain the surface.

  • Cleaning solutions should be dabbed, not rubbed, to avoid damaging the protective clear coat.

✅ Our Recommendation

Proper maintenance will extend the life of your deck or resurfacing system and keep it looking its best. When in doubt, contact Armor Coat Surfaces before attempting to remove a difficult stain or using any chemical cleaner.

Care & Maintenance Guide – Epoxy & Polyaspartic Floor Systems

Your new epoxy or polyaspartic flooring system has been designed to deliver years of durability, beauty, and easy maintenance. With proper care, your floor will maintain its finish and performance for many years. Please follow the care and maintenance guidelines below.

🔹 Everyday Protection

  • Avoid dragging heavy items (appliances, sharp tools, or machinery) across the floor to prevent scratches or gouges.

  • Use protective pads under furniture, tool stands, and heavy equipment.

  • Clean spills immediately (oil, grease, chemicals, etc.) to avoid surface staining or slip hazards.

  • Use mats or drip trays under vehicles, planters, or workbenches to prevent chemical and fluid stains.

  • Avoid rubber-backed mats and tires left in one position for long periods, as some rubber compounds may cause staining.

🧽 Cleaning Your Floor

  • Sweep or dust-mop the floor regularly to remove dirt, dust, and grit that can cause surface wear.

  • For routine cleaning, use a neutral pH cleaner (such as diluted dish soap or specialized epoxy-safe cleaners) mixed with warm water.

  • Mop with a soft mop or microfiber pad.

  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water to prevent residue buildup.

  • For larger areas, an auto-scrubber with soft bristle pads may be used.

❌ What Not to Use

  • Avoid harsh cleaners such as bleach, ammonia, citrus-based cleaners, or vinegar, which may dull or etch the surface.

  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or scouring pads.

  • Avoid solvents like acetone, lacquer thinner, or paint removers, which can damage the clear coat.

❄️ Seasonal & Garage Use

  • Rock salt and de-icing chemicals can be used on epoxy/polyaspartic floors, but always rinse thoroughly in spring to avoid chemical buildup.

  • In winter, place mats near entrances to capture excess salt, sand, and moisture.

  • Wipe up standing water promptly to prevent slippery conditions.

🛠️ Stubborn Stains & Repairs

  • Most stains can be removed with warm water and a mild cleaner.

  • For tougher stains, use a soft nylon brush with diluted cleaner and rinse thoroughly.

  • Never attempt to grind, sand, or aggressively scrub the surface, as this can damage the coating.

  • Contact Armor Coat Surfaces if you encounter a stain or damage that cannot be removed with standard cleaning methods.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Regular maintenance extends the life and beauty of your floor.

  • All cleaning should be performed when the surface is cool and out of direct sunlight.

  • Always test any new cleaning product in a small, inconspicuous area before use.

  • Your warranty does not cover damage caused by improper cleaners, neglect, or misuse.
